Guarantee: InstallationA - With the blade facing upward, support the saw in an elevated position for easy saw blade removal. B - Remove blade bolt and flange, clean clinging material to bare metal. Place the blade and flange in their original positions. A modified flange (available at cost price) is required for Husqvarna, Jonsered and Shindaiwa brush saws. Stihl brush saws do not need modified flanges. IMPORTANT NOTE: STIHL ® brush saws have a thin metal washer between the saw blade and the gear head. The washer must be replaced when it shows a sign of wear (curling upward). C - Place the brass valve cover over the blade and
flange. D - Place the gaskets on the brass valve cover in the following
order when using water soluble herbicide solutions such as Vision ®,
Roundup ® or Tordon ® herbicides: NOTE for calibration: To decrease the flow rate: Use 2 thin paper and one wool gaskets. To increase the flow rate: use 2 wool and 1 thin paper gaskets. For Garlon 4® at 100% concentration use one wool gasket, one paper gasket and one wool gasket (sandwich assembly). ***For other solutions please contact us*** ![]() E - Center the reservoir assembly on top of the gasket set on the blade to cover the gaskets. F - Insert the central bushing, verifying that the O - rings are in place. G - Place the brush saw blade nut inside the bushing and tighten it as usual (about 14 ft - lb.). H- Trim the surplus gasket material from around the Applicator rim with a sharp utility knife. Use the knife vertically. I - Remove one brass plug and fill the reservoir with herbicide solution using a feeding syringe or plastic bottle with spout (Reservoir capacity is 105 cc to 110 cc or 3.3 oz to 3.6 oz). J - Place the brass plug without over tightening. K - Fill the fuel tank of the brush saw. L - Operate the saw as specified in the table below. After a few minutes, inspect the blade. A ray of herbicide should be visible with heavier solutions such as a Glyphosate herbicide, especially when a coloring agent is used. Light solutions will not always be visible unless they have a coloring agent. If you notice excessive amounts of herbicide coming out after 20 second or so, tighten the blade nut. M - Once the fuel has been consumed (50 - 60 minutes), inspect and refill the applicator. Consumption should be in the range of 85 cc (2.9 oz) to 100 cc (3.4 oz) of liquid per hour. If the fuel tank lasts longer than one hour, refill the SLHA and the fuel tank within 60 minutes. ![]() N - Keep the Herbicide Applicator and the blade clean. If you notice accumulation of dried up herbicide solution on the blade, wash with clean water and a sponge or brush designated for the purpose. Dispose of the rinse in areas designated for treatment. *** CAUTION *** When you remove the brass plug to refill the reservoir, make sure that no contamination enters the Applicator, This could clog the groves and reduce the flow rate of the herbicide solution. Some solutions may loose effectiveness with contamination. Saw specifications:For optimum performance and productivity consider the following specifications:
Note to the supervisorThe SLHA operation is a step ahead of regular brush cutting. Please verify pesticide supply, workers' safety, work quality and equipment conditions more frequently. Worker's habit adjustmentIn order to put maximum amount of herbicide on the treated stumps, it is recommended to work at slower pace when cutting thick shrubs. A coloring agent will help identifying missed stumps. At least, 85% of the stumps cut should indicate at least partial coloring. Field KitIn addition to the standard components and spare parts of the Sprout-Less Herbicide Applicator, it is delivered as a Field Kit which includes all items needed to service the unit during the daily operation. This includes:
